Q. 7 |
I'm studying in XII standard and will be appearing for my board exams next year. I want to know: How important is grooming for the job of an Air hostess?
|
Ans. |
We would say it’s a key prerequisite for an Air hostess. However grooming doesn’t just imply beauty or make-up but the overall personality, the way to carry yourself, your behavior with the passengers, speech, diction etc. We have a battery of professionals from the industry, who give students a good insight into what goes into making such a winsome profile.

Q. 8 |
What exactly does the job of an air hostess pay? Is it as attractive as it is made out to be?
|
Ans. |
Yes, it is. The earning potential at the entry level can be anything between Rs 7,000 to 40,000, plus other perks and benefits. This is better than the best compared to other industries.
|
|
|
Q. 9 |
what is the duration of the career of an air hostess? |
Ans. |
It lasts for about eight to ten years, after which you could get moved to the ground duty department, or be asked to handle the job of a Ground Hostess, Check Hostess, etc. or diversify into any other aviation departments.

|
Q. 10 |
To be an air-hostess is my dream but my parents are dead-set against it. What should I do? I come from a very conservative, business- class family.
|
Ans. |
It’s a little unfortunate that parents sometimes try to take charge of our life and even make career choices for us. But there is always a polite way of getting them to see your point of view. So my advice is -- get yourself enrolled for a session with a career counselor and take your mother along with you. If the counselor’s judgment were that you are cut out for the job, your mother would automatically be convinced. For your information, we have counselors at ECPC also, who help students through such difficulty.

Q. 12 |
Air hostesses lead such glamorous lives. They also seem to have everything --- looks, money, travel opportunities --- it is all fun and frolic in the skies?
|
Ans. |
The answer is yes and no. In the world of cutthroat competition that we live in, an Air Hostess job is far more than that of a glorified ‘waitress in the sky.’ Competition and the exponential growth of the aviation sector in recent times have raised customer demands to an extent that nothing but the best suffices for an air passenger. This makes an air hostess’s job all the more tough and demanding. So although she makes quite a bundle from her flying allowances (only a small portion of which gets taxed), remaining on her feet for 30 hours a week (minimum) and dealing with cranky passengers with a cheery smile cannot be everybody’s cup of tea (or coffee either). Get into this field only if you think you have all that it takes! Good luck!

Q. 13 |
I am a 10+2 student and extremely confused about what career stream to opt for. I am not too studious, but have the gift of the God, a pleasing and outgoing personality and love to jet set around the world. Am I suitable for the aviation sector? |
Ans. |
Definitely. If you indeed possess some of the winsome traits that you mention, I promise that you are cut and dry for this sector. All you need is a bit of grooming and fine polishing, which you can get from anywhere, including from ECPC. This would mould you into a product that is ripe and ready for plucking! |

|
Q. 14 |
If I wanted to complete my graduation and then apply for a steward’s job with an International Airline what options do I have?
|
Ans. |
All options are open for you after graduation but you need to be professionally qualified. When service industry requires young aspirants i.e. age of 18 years so why to wait for graduation and waste 3 years? Early you start your career early you get settled. If you do ECPC course i.e. global Aviation and Hospitality Management along with your graduation then by the time you complete your graduation you have academic qualification, professional qualification and work experience.

Q. 16 |
I am an average-looking girl from a middle-class, small-town family. Can I get selected for the job of an air hostess? |
Ans. |
At ECPC, we leave no stone unturned explaining to our students that grooming is far more important than mere looks. We get plenty of students from “middle-class, small-town families” who are like uncut diamonds waiting to be polished. Good grooming, a pleasing personality, a ready smile and a helpful demeanor are far more important than a deadpan, sullen expression, even if it’s on a beautiful face.

Q. 17 |
I am 5’2”, i.e. one inch shorter than the mandatory requirement. What should I do? Can I opt for ground staff service with some international airline?
|
Ans. |
Of course, you can. It doesn’t matter what institute you are enrolled with. If you have completed your training, you can send us your CV and whenever there is a suitable opening, we will inform you. There are also some placement agencies that recruit ground staff for major airlines. We could put you in touch with them, as well.

|
Q. 20 |
I am a little squat and overweight. Do you think I would look good in a sari, which, I believe is a mandatory dress code for an air hostess with the Indian flyer? |

Our external appearance is more about the impression that we create. If you were to carry yourself well, any dress would suit you and people will forget you are short or squat. |
